if that is the case

then someday someone could suggest nokia not to sell n900 in public places.
people who wants to buy n900 will have to read the disclaimer and sign a letter of agreement saying that they know what theyre doing and n900 is only for geek.

and it was because some people experienced difficulties, problems or it just won't run the way they want it or it turns out that it cannot run other OS(s)...

Lets not turn this thread into another flamethrower.

The most of the stability issues with the N900 come from using it in potentially risky ways.

This is a useless thread.

Don't install the damn kernels unless you know what you are doing. Is that so hard? Anybody who tries to use something they don't know how to use, deserves whatever the outcome is.

I know we need to blame them for not reading WARNING in the description but as I can see its not effective Hopefully if you put it back at extras devel it will reduce these incidents

What do you think?

Thanks
who is stupid enuf will always find the way. (as it's not in main repo but extra dev or testing, which you have to add anyway)

i'm sorry if my post was considered flaming

i have no problem with n900

i was just saying if this thread ridiculous idea is accepted than maybe someday a scenario like i wrote will eventually accepted also

i don't like how people keep blaming on the device if actually the problem exists somewhere else

I dont see a need for these kernels to be relegated to extra dev or wherever. For example; I myself have kernel25 but after trying one of the starving loads caused a mishap with my app manager.
The point is, it is my responsibility, i read all the relevant wikis and warnings and such, so no one is to blame but me for my mistake, in this instance.
People like titan have made great contributions and they should not be penalised, in a sense, for those who don't do their homework properly or decide to take a chance (like me) and do something which could cause thier device to malfunction.
Leave it as it is.

I dont think it is a case of 'noobs'...it is just a case of people willing to take a chance or risk but not thinking it through properly or considering the reprecussions of their actions.

And besides, how else do we learn, if not by our mistakes? I am sure you were also a noob at one stage...

Agreed.

These users have to be browsing forums to even know how to activate the non default settings of the kernel (phone stays in default factory settings doesn't it?), so if they can't be bothered reading properly or asking questions, that is their fault. It isn't like the thing overclocks itself once installed, OR asks you how fast you want to try to go. You have to have done "some" research to begin with.

Furthermore, Titans kernel reverts to default on reboot, saving hapless experimental n900 owners from themselves to a degree.

I had these same defensive reactions, but really, people shouldn't overclock unless they know that the overclocking wiki exists.
