wont that just delete the app rather than remove it from the menu.
i need a method so that certain apps don't appear in the menu (sort of hidden apps)

is this possible?

that will delet the shortcut not the app but the user guid is just a bookmark. if you open user guide than bookmark it in the web app you could delet the shortcut and keep the bookmark in the browser so you could stll use it.

ahhh ok.
is there a way to hide shortcuts instead of deleting them as i have a couple of .desktop shortcuts to run scripts and i'm using the quick-launch applet for the.shortcuts.
so if i delete the .desktop shortcut, then the buttons i've set to run these scripts won't function anymore.

i hope this makes sense, trying to word it right.

using the quick-launch applet where you can assign 4 different applications to the 4 buttons of the applet.
the scripts were made in to .desktop so that they could be used in the applet but it also made the icons appear in the menu.

the scripts are open x-teminal in root
set default clock speed
set overclock speed at 850mhz

This is what happens when people are too smart: if I remember correctly you can uninstall the application from the App. Manager
