Spending hours last night seeing what is out there when it comes to Android tablets I have narrowed down my interest to two of them.

1) The A21, for $150: http://marcopad.com/20-android-tablet-pc-a21.html

2) The Moonse APAD E7002 for about $100: http://www.merimobiles.com/Moonse_AP...p/meri0513.htm
(This device is the same as the APAD iRobot you see more of).

Video here of the earlier, 7001 version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNSQv7D4Gmg
VIdeo2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pYso...eature=related

"Good thing" about the APAD 7001 is that you can pick one up on eBay for around $100 or so but I'd be interested in getting the 7002 running Android 2.1

How did you reset the device? My setings -> Privacy factory reset doesn't work in software, and I have tried various button combinations but cannot wipe the device clean.

Have powered off, then powered on holding home button on back with power button, and get a diagnostic screen, but cannot select any of the items on it - as there is no touch screen working for that.

Also - my Android market downloads don't work either.

Right now, the device is useless, and contact their support organizations is about the same...

The lack of market on most of these devices are simple. No 3-axis accelerometer and compass, gps, nor 2megapixel camera. All those are google requirements even after they dropped the phone one.

I believe that I held in the home+back buttons then powered on and held all three until it went into the setup screens for the device. You went into the recovery mode which i tried but without any way to select or navigate that did not work well.
The box does not really match the actual features as enabled in Android from what I can tell -- like Airplane mode --- I can not find this.

As I said before so far this is a good web browsing / email wifi device but not much else yet....

The manual says it will switch orientation but the only time I saw anything portrait was in the setup mode after the hard reset.

Oh and the market is enabled and I can select stuff for download but the download never finishes. It is advertised as a feature for this tablet. Maybe it was a hack job not endorsed by Google and they have blocked it?....

Just saw this.... an update/patch will be available from augen in the next 48 hours. free headphones etc...

If anyone wants a real fun time, ask them to post or send you the source to the Linux kernel they distributed on the device.

I suspect you'll end up SOL for any of these $100-$150 tablets, and that's a surefire way to make porting anything to these extremely hard. If not, I'm all ears.

Now that XDA has started working on it the device has a future with or without augen support.
