maaybe a strange question but is it possible to launch a jpeg file from the terminal. i have some pictures on the n900 root and want to launch them without to having them copied to the sd card or the n900 memory.

is there a command for launching pictures from terminal? i tried image-viewer /******.jpeg but its not working

You could use the display command, see e.g.

The display command is from the ImageMagick package, which does not come with the n900. AFAIK ImageMagick is not available on the n900.

Just to be clear, there is no display command on the n900 until ImageMagick is installed, so that is not a way to display images from the terminal on the n900.

i think must first change the directory to the one where the pic is.
after that try imageviewer launch

Sorry, that is right, you have to install imagemagick first, which is available in the extras repositories, see:
http://maemo.org/packages/view/imagemagick/
