1) Go here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/m/beta.html from your mobile browser and add the repo for maemo.

2) After adding the repo close App Manager (dont try to install from app manager)

3)Open console, do an "apt-get update"

4)"apt-get install fennec" and voila...

EDIT: i forgot to mention, u MUST disable Ovi repo before doing anything.
Thanks, but does not work on OS2008 as it doesn't solve the dependency issue.

It looks it doesn't have a Flash plugin and I think a browser with no Flash support is useless. Is there a way to activate flash for this?

Also an AdBlocker is urgent too.
No...there's the flash youtube enabler plugin but it does not support Firefox 4 yet, same thing with AdBlocker.

Install the prog. "aptly" and it will do the job for you.
Aptly produces the same error for me.

There seems to be a bug in the latest beta, if you close one of the tabs then information on other tabs also disappear (page turns completely blank). Anyone else seeing this issue ?

For os2008, the problem we run into installing Firefox 4 from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o.../binary-armel/, which is the only place I know of to get Firefox 4 .deb for OS2008 (n8x0's). The issue is some missing libs, as you might see in hordemans screen shots. I went ahead and started looking for the first lib using google, I can't find libasound2 (>1.0.18) for 0s2008 anywhere.
Is this just a miss placed .deb, that shouldn't be in the chinook dists on Mozilla's mobile trunk? Or did someone forget to fix dependencies before releasing the chinook version of Firefox 4 beta.

Side note. For those of you on n900 that are currently able to run Firefox 4, what are your impressions?

I like they fact that they continue to have steady improvements, but there are still issues with rendering, the page showing blank and etc.

What is weird is that on some pages the text is small and in other pages the text is bigger. MicroB tends to be more consistent and FF is kinda all over the place. Although I do like the way FF handles touch optimized sites. I like the bigger text.

There is still no mouse / hover mode so for Google Maps so I still have to use MicroB.

I'm looking forward to the subsequent betas. This is very promising for MeeGo, but I hope they get around the performance issues because rendering is very unpredictable and frankly still a bit painful to use. I'm glad they haven't forgotten about us though.

Hard to tell, I def see a speed boost. But I still think the official current release at the moment has this beat. I did notice that running through settings and plug-ins seemed significantly faster in this build.

It will have flash.. it just not enabled yet. It is an early beta. Did you miss the topic?

For me it is a little bit clunky still. It renders the page fast (some faster than opera) but some stuck and blanks before it finishes. As finished the page looks great. Better than both Microb and Opera. Miss the arrow from Microb too.. but saw that it might come later. It also takes a lot cpu so it is not very optimized yet.

Worked for me (step 3, 4 must be on root)
