Okay, as I see, many people around here confuse Hildon-Desktop and Hildon-Home. These are NOT the same, and you should never, ever confuse them. The responsibilities of these processes are quite different.

As I (and many others) have already said many times in here, Hildon-Home only crashes when you use some widget on your desktop that crashes. This crash then brings down Hildon-Home too, which is then restarted by the OS, and after this, it tries to get rid of the widget that caused this to happen, thus removing all 3rd party widgets from your home screens.

So far, this has only happened to me once or maybe twice since I own the N900.

Also note that widgets not tied to Hildon-Home (eg. the Contacts shortcuts and Sticky Notes) can be safely used as they will never ever crash nor Hildon-Home nor the other widgets.

yes i agree,
my hildon-home crashes...not hildon-desktop.
and that happens even if i clean up all of widgets on the desktop.
