jflatt, now preenv is updated and working perfect and you made your awesome scritp..have you thought about key mapping GUI ? kinda like making the .sh files for every game..if such thing is possible

How i can get this to work with nova and other games? I mean jflatt's keymappings?
I have installed my preenv games from .deb file. And my preenv version is 0.1.3

i can help you with mapping the keys, but i need to be able to understand it first.
gconftool-2 --set --type int /apps/preenv/Avatar/enable_dpad 1
gconftool-2 --set --type int /apps/preenv/Avatar/dpad_center_mouse 1
gconftool-2 --set --type int /apps/preenv/Avatar/dpad_center_x 120
gconftool-2 --set --type int /apps/preenv/Avatar/dpad_center_y 357
gconftool-2 --set --type int /apps/preenv/Avatar/dpad_key_n_key 119
the above is for the dpad? right the one on the left? do you just try out different numbers to see which one works?

Most games use a directional control where you have to click the center of the onscreen 'joysick' and slide it in the direction you want to go. The dpad_center_ is the initial click in the middle of the image. Then there are dpad_ coordinates for each of 8 directions. You don't have to just try different numbers, I just use a screenshot and resize it to 800x480 then find the coordinates I want. As for key codes, I posted those a bit earlier in the thread, basically a=97, z=122, ordered alphbetically, and there are a few others.

i created gconf keymap install script for some game
first you need newest preenv, and jflatt's modified sdlpre library
Avatar:
qweadzxc - d-pad
P - jump
left arrow - attack and downjump
L - eye button
Assassin's Creed:
qweadzxc - d-pad (not work properly)
P - jump
left arrow - attack
up arrow and space - attack
L - block (not work properly)
Nova (for control sheme 1 and 2):
qweadzxc - d-pad
P - grenade
. (period) and up arrow - shoot
left arrow - jump
L - energy (special attack) button
Driver (Controls: Virtual Stick)
use virtual stick on screen to steer the car
P - burnout
up arrow - accelerate
left arrow - brake
L - hand brake

Oh, and dpad_center_mouse is an index of which multi-touch mouse you're faking. The real one seems to always be 0, I set the dpad to 1, and other buttons to 2,3,4,etc. From what I've seen, the pre can handle 5 simultaneous presses, but I have no idea what would happen if you set those really high.

Also, keep in mind there are gamegripper users out there, they would probably appreciate it if your mappings are compatible
