Touchscreen is dead. And cannot do anything.

Keyboard is working fine though.

Here's the last thing I did last night before waking up this morning
noticed that the phone freezed up on me:

*phone is on google chat and facebook chat. I still recieve
fb chat messages but unable to click them

*phone is on silent mode

*calendar is set to alarm 12:00 noon

*the only thing i installed from extra devel is MAPPERO
& the app where you can switch on tablet mode and it
was installed like a month ago and is working fine.

* i can move the background HALFWAY but it won't go all the way
to the other background.

*x terminal is working by pressing Ctrl + Shift + X

I woke up and the screen looks it froze on while the calendar
alarm sets off, i can see i have a new message(i.m. or text, idk).

That's about it.

I've tried opening the device and dusting it off with no avail.

and

my last resort: Flashing it to factrory settings and still
the touch screen isn't working.

It's out of warranty so o don't know what to do with this BRICK.
So now i downgrade and bought e71 for the meantime.

I miss my n900 already!

If you've got a screen protector try taking it off. My touch screen stopped working completely once, and without the protector it has been working fine for months.

perhaps replace the touchscreen yourself. there are instruction pdf around. screens on ebay etc (search forums for advice). all worthless if the problem lies elsewhere.
out of interest, if you install x11vnc via your functioning terminal can you operate the n900 from a pc/mac/phone?

Never used screen protector on my n900.

I wish I installed x11vnc but i never did since I never really messed with
x terminal and assumed everything would be fine.

I don't know if this is stupid question but, is there a way to fix the
touchscreen with out replacing the lcd?, because the lcd the is
perfectly fine except for the non working touchscreen.

If that's the case, dang i shouldn't reflashed it and got the new lcd
touchscreen.

The LCD and the touchscreen are actually two separate parts. You may want to try opening up the device and making sure the cable connections are secure. Better to see if this works first before having to spend $$ on replacement parts

Actually I opened them up already and checked all connections.
And everything looked fine.

It's just weird that it was working pefecty fine and then the next day
touchscreen died on me.

Thanks for the heads up!

I don't want to deal with nokia since the phone is out of warranty
already. I'll try to get new touchscreen and hope that fix the
problem.

thanks.

Dunno where you live, but they're very reasonably priced over here.

Also why not install VNC by terminal if they keyboard still works? Stick it on the N900 with USB, then use dpkg -i to install it.
