It is a good historic buying point, and I did add to my collection today.

But $300??? Doubtful. I'll sell when it pops back over $30.

Yeah, me too. www.share.com is a good start but see the annual tarrif ...it`s a joke, 20 pounds every 4 months, 7.95 processing fees....better keeping the money in the bank.

When Nokia bring out their next device after this joint merger you will see Nokia shares jump in value IF the device turns heads and i am pretty sure it will be a knockout device.

Now IS a good time to buy but i would wait a few weeks more, biggest problem is finding the cheapest way to buy shares, not an easy task for those who are new to stocks and shares.

I think that the OP is basically right and this is a good time to buy Nokia stock.

I like the bottom-feeder technique of buying stocks. When I sense hysteria, I think that eventually good sense will prevail, so I buy. That's what helped me buy $200 worth of Ford stocks that are now worth way more than $1000.

I think Nokia is likely to go up a couple points, anyway.

Edit: Check Fidelity.com for a cheap and user-friendly way to buy stocks.

I also recommend folioinvesting.com. 2 FREE window trades per day (with very few restrictions). This service is really good for people looking to build a retirement fund without spending a lot on fees.

Are you a qualified financial advisor?

Imagine buying 10 shares today for $7.80 and selling those 10 shares 1 or 2 years from now for $300 each. (Assuming Nokia shares rise to $300)
Or: imagine buying shares two years ago at ~$15 and now having to choose between keeping them and hoping the price rises a bit in a few years or liquidating and losing about half of what you paid.

Technically you don't make money until you sell. In the meantime you just have some (probably virtual) pieces of paper obtained at a lower price point than the current one.
