I go N900 even you're too nerdy. I may go N900 even it's too perfect.

I can't point to a best application in Maemo. There are just too many great ones to choose from. Recently I've been becoming acquainted with Queen Beacon Widget (maximum customizability for your N900 widgets), Modrana (great GPS navigation with support for offline navigation, offline maps by tile downloading, map layering, voice navigation commands, support for a great amount of maps including Google Satellite, Open Street Maps, Traffic, etc).

And today particularly I was tinkering with Easy Debian. Which basically turns the N900 even more into a pocket desktop computer. Surprisingly it performs acceptably, even on a stock (not overclocked) N900. One of the best applications for the N900.

But, as I said, there are too many great apps. Some others that come to mind are gPodder, cuteTube, QML Downloader, and Orecchiette.

As a matter of fact, since I'm going to reflash my main N900 soon and backup failed, I just did a full walkthrough of the system while Orecchiette was making a screen video (5 fps) of it. Is that awesome or what?

A word of appreciation for all the developers and enthusiasts that make Maemo still the best mobile platform and community ever. Kudos to Dave999 for this thread as well.

Hrrumph!
This year n900 week is coming to a close far too quickly for my liking.

I mean it's not like mine is shoved in a drawer collecting dust all year round until this same time every year...I use mine every day all year long...
Just seems mightily short this year...course I played "Anti-n900 Week" for 'bout a day there...well actually ..it was less than a day...where I didn't use it...darn near had an embolism from the strain
Maybe that is why it feels too short a n900 week this year?

It looks like I will have to extend the week till next year

There was so much simple daily usage joy I was missing out by compromising myself to carry the next box filled with the air of promises and anticipation that the future as drawn by the mobile industry will hold something better.

Thanks for reminding me about Orechiette, malfunctioning. This thread is a great user experience revival.

Does anybody happen to have the latest build of Fennec 17.0 pixman (not repos' 17.0a1)

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...=fennec+pixman

the links in the first post are dead

I need the Fennec browser for the splendid "save as PDF" feature but using the repos one is pure self torture.

Thanks

Quick reply...
The charger is finally 'fixed'. As in, it shows blue light when 'no battery', red light when 'charging battery'. But...
1. When it is charging the battery, the charger (not the battery!) becomes hot very quickly;
2. When I take that charger out and plug it back in, it continues to charge; when I take the charger out, wait for several hours and plug it back in, it does not work; when I discharge the capacitor(s) again, the charger works again.
I have the impression that while the charger charges the battery, it puts excessive energy into some 'pocket', and this storage-to-'pocket' makes the charger hot. When the charger it taken out of the plug, it slowly moves the energy from the 'pocket' to the capacitor, and the capacitor blocks the electrical circuit. Sorry for wrong terminology; I haven't studied electrical circuits for a long time, and currently have no idea how exactly the charger works (except for the transformer of course), transforms AC to DC, et cetera...
So, hopefully, within 24 hours the N900 will be working, again
Best wishes.

So it's Friday and time for a drink. I was planning to order the drink called N900. Unfortunately I don't now what is included. How do you mix your N900-drink?

Haha
O Dave....
All I can think of are two drinks actually like a n900...

1- As an adult.....a 30 yr old single malt irish whiskey tastes like smooth gold in the mouth and goes down the throat like lava on fire.

2- As a kid...........How many here either as a kid or has kids that decide to make the "ultimate" blender drink. you know...kids throw every thing in..all the good stuff....peanut butter...ice cream..graham crackers....maraschino cherries...apples...chocolate...the whole cupboard in fact...
I think that is the n900 in a drink

Both sounds good but since n900 comes with a drink stick to mix liquid liquor it must be some kind of a cocktail...what about a mix of 1 and 2?

hmm....
3 parts apple schnapps
1 part chocolate liqueur (ok just sampled a 3part apple 1 part choco...gotta ease back on the choco...less a part and closer to a spritz...)
a dollop of ice cream
ground graham cracker dust sprinkled..
a spritz of coffee liqueur on top
with a maraschino cherry impaled on the stylus.
(got the ingreeds. -gonna try it after 2pm pacific time (cocktail hour) )
(expecting immediate type 3 diabetes by 5pm)
viola!...
a alcool-chocofied-caffeinated-chillled delight surpassed only by the n8x0 bananna split
