Do not think so. Or did you modify/tinkered that one?
Sounds like a crash and then only part of modules is loaded. I have the same behaviour sometimes. I use 'killall hildon-status-menu' to get all IM/VoIP status refreshed (after modifying their online/offline status within a script). And once in a while I have that menu gets only partly loaded. Then I do it a second time and everything is fine again!?
Just do a 'killall hildon-status-menu' once more and check again.

Most probably not.
As this is what his packagelis says:
~ $ cat MyDocs/hildon-status-m-4088-11-1116/packagelist | grep status-menu
hildon-status-menu 0.3.39+0m5
status-menu-applet-profiles 0.12+0m5
This sounds like default stock versions. (or that packagelist in core dump is lying directly at my face )

Hi All!

I would like to ask for some help as I'm quite stocked how to get tor running.

Here is what I have:
- CSSU, version: 21.2011.38-1Smaemo7
- tor, version: 0.2.3.25-1maemo1
- tor-geoipdb, version: 0.2.3.25-1maemo1
- adduser, version: 3.102maemo1
- libevent-2.0-5, version: 2.0.10-stable-1
- polipo, version: 1.0.4-1.1maemo1
- tsocks, version: 1.8beta5-9.1maemo0mg1

When I type in terminal "sudo tor", it appears to be working fine, establishing connection (using "netstat -t" to verify this). But when I use microb in "check.torproject.org", the page says I'm not using tor.

I installed tor status menu applet, but it doesn't work. When I type in terminal: "ldd /usr/lib/hildon-desktop/status-area-applet-tor.so" I get the following message (as it was referenced before):

"libhildondesktop-1.so.0 => /usr/lib/libhildondesktop-1.so.0 (0x40023000)

My hildon-status-menu version is 0.3.40-8.

Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong...?

Thanks,

jm

Hi All,

here is what I noticed:

when I run "sudo tor" and "netstat -t" showed tor connection, I tried to set microb network.proxy settings (http port 8118, socks port 9050) and edit torrc file but it was useless (restarted tor every time).

After those tryings, I set tor status menu applet to enable onion routing; it messed up hildon status menu, and "killall hildon-status-menu" did not help. But when I disconnected from the wifi network (wifi was on) "killall hildon-status-menu" worked and tor status area applet said "disconnected" but it was enabled. So I tried to connect to the network again, but when it connected, hildon status menu went messed again, so I suspect something is wrong with these two things.

When I looked into wifiswitcher applet, "ldd /usr/lib/hildon-desktop/libwifi_switcher.so" gave the same message as I copied into my previous comment.

check.torproject.org always says I'm not using tor, even if I get new, different IP addresses that the page shows... .onion websites are not reachable too...

EDIT: OK, this is really weird...: I uninstalled tor status area applet. Then I run tor, then "ubbie links2 check.torproject.org -socks-proxy 127.0.0.1:9050" and it says "congratulation, you are running tor"... after that I set socks port in microb but it seems that microb cannot handle tor... well, it seems like that a text based browser is the solution for me...

I checked: in easy ubuntu I can set links2 config file to use this socks settings and can display .onion websites.

I also hava chromium on maemo installed, and from command line when I type "/opt/chromium/chrome-wrapper --proxy-server="socks=127.0.0.1:9050" --incognito check.torproject.org" it also says "congratulation...". So that is it; even if I set microb socks proxy it cannot handle tor on my n900, but the two browsers above can...

Cheers,

jm
