Something strange happens when I use the xvkbd in Debian's
Accessories. If I touch a letter with the stylus and then lift the stylus up, the letter continues to print as if the key is being held down.

Any idea how to fix this?

I had this question several months ago myself. The answer is here. I'll add that to the wiki.

@qole: some pages ago I had some questions about synchroot that I still haven't figured out: What is the role of synchroot? Is it run automatically on each first chroot or only by the installer or only when the image is produced? Do I need to run it manually when something is changed in Maemo like the rx-51?

EDIT: If I understand correctly, synchroot is run only the very first time. So I guess manual re-installs and also modifications on something like the rx-51 should be followed by
Code:
sudo closechroot
touch /home/user/.synchroot

Hi,

I just installed "easy debian" 2 days ago, Install went smooth, I decompressed the files on my PC with 7zip (added reference to 7zip in the wiki) and copied over sftp.

Now, LXDE starts fine, but I am having such an annoying problem.
I tried searching "power search" and flipping through this 128 page thread, but didn't find the solution, also looked in the wiki.
The problem is that LXDE starts, and the hardware keyboard doesn't work, I tried :
- Pressing the power button and then outside, doesn't work.
- Starting "fix lxde hw kbd" which work for a few seconds and then, for some unknown reason, the whole LXDE is zoomed out into the Maemo 5 task manager view (where you see all your open apps as if I pressed control + backspace).
I only have LXDE running. I tried rebooting the phone, running the fix again, same thing happens.

Driving me crazy ):
Any ideas?

Besides that I am a fond of TCL/TK scripting language, it installed easily through synaptic and I managed to run a few stuff on it flawless!

AFAIK, you're the first with such a problem. I guess something nonstandard that you've installed is interfering. Perhaps shortcutd or a similar app? In fact, I have shortcutd running without problems, but I also have only very few things configured in shortcutd.

Yep I have shortcutd too, but only the camera button is configured, and I swear I didn't touch it (;

hello..i was trying to install the package build-essential and i got this:

Code:
[root@deb-m5v3d: ~]apt-get install build-essential
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
build-essential: Depends: libc6-dev but it is not going to be installed or
                            libc-dev
Depends: g++ (>= 4:4.3.1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
i tried to fix it with this without success
Code:
apt-get clean all
apt-get update
apt-get install build-essential
any suggestions?

I encountered some glitches with xvkbd+xbindkeys that I don't fully understand. Perhaps somebody can educate me:

For example an entry
Code:
"xvkbd -xsendevent -text "\[percent]""
 Shift+Mod5 + d
in .xbindkeysrc and activated by "debbie xbindkeys" does not produce the % character when I press Fn+Shift+d. Except for F1-F12, escape, and tab, only the characters that I anyway have on my (rx51-tailored) hw keyboard seem to work. (synchroot didn't help btw.)

However, when I start LXDE, open a terminal there, do
Code:
killall xbindkeys
xbindkeys
it does work (but only there, not outside of LXDE). It also doesn't work with "@xbindkeys -f /home/user/.xbindkeysrc" in the autostart file.

By the way, I found a way to take advantage of the virtual keyboard from within debbie applications. Backing out to the Maemo XTerminal, I produce a special character with the virtual keyboard there, copy the character, and can then paste it in the debbie application when the latter has a paste menu item. Fortunately, I need that only rarely because of my suitably remapped hw keyboard. But I would definitely prefer a more elegant solution.
