Well, so long as its a genuine battery or proper knock-off, it should have a safety chip in there which will literally shut off the battery if it gets too far out of spec; explosion chance is pretty minor.

Also, remember that you can always just up the voltage if it starts crashing. Something's gonna give, either the chip itself, or things are going to start melting.

Hey there guys, I (probably) killed my N900 already, but I don't think my CPU's dead. The thing starts but does not complete boot up.

And before you say "reflash", understand that I've tried that AND sent it to Nokia Care - only to have it sent back to me due to the fact that it was non-economic to repair (I bought it without any warranty).

I'm thinking the eMMC is dead, but nobody seems to have a spare motherboard to repair it lol...

How have you bought it without any warranty? The device came out in november. It should still be covered by the warranty even if you bought it second hand.

Does anyone know what damage starving may cause on your CPU because OCing does nothing for me really, because the current 250 600mhz is fine for me personally but starving does improve battery life, so I just wanted to know. I'm using this method to OC at the moment

It works great but I was just curious since I'm a Noob.

as far as i'm aware, any load or clock speed problems will trigger a reboot and it will boot back to stock

however, as far as battery life goes, it makes almost no difference in reality. its not the cpu thats killing the battery (unless its under heavy use - in that case all the loads are the same) itr the antena, screen, bluetooth, keyboard and anyother hardware that kills it
