Exactly the same here, though I am on -thumb. And deleting ~/.opera does not help either. Some easter egg?

The same here- latest CSSU devel and KP51.
I think the older version of Opera didn't behave in that way.
So I deactivated extras-devel, removed opera-mobile 12 and reinstalled opera-mobile 11.5beta1-14-fremantle0.

Result: WFM! No crash when starting from shortcut Icon.

Conclusion: Seems to be an issue with opera-mobile 12 itself, I will stay with the "stable" version until further notice.

Maybe workaround, maybe solution, I do not know yet.

Open x-term and open
/usr/share/applications/hildon/opera.desktop
with any editor of yor choice and sudo rights (best done as root). e.g.
Code:
sudo leafpad /usr/share/applications/hildon/opera.desktop
and change the line 6
from
Code:
Exec=/usr/bin/opera
to
Code:
Exec=run-standalone.sh /usr/bin/opera
This helped me to not have opera immediately crash on opening a webpage.
Please everybody having that issue, try this out and post back after extensive use/testing, please.

Using run-standalone.sh may have a similar effect as starting it from x-term: a bit less crashes, but it is still totally instable.

Btw: I saw Ohrn visiting this thread, so help may be on the way.
