ALL installs are selectable, there is nothing pre loaded.

Have you upgraded the OS? I had this issue and it made the browser a real pain to work with :-/ however the latest os release fixes this and the stock browser is now much faster with reliable link clicking. Just need landscape mode now.

Mass storage is essential and actually the only USB mode I expect on any device.

Supposedly you mean it should already simulate a rooted Android?

Mass storage is a f****d-up remains from the era people connected things like stand-alone-MP3-players into computers. It should be deprecated, deal with it.

This is really nice feature, as opposed to N9/Harmattan where you could not get rid of facebook et al. useless crap preinstalled on the device.
Props for that to Jolla crew!

Only issue for me with not having mass storage is that it makes it pretty hard to get photos off the phone without some aggro. Bit can always take the sd card out anyway, just not as convenient

Update to the odd alarms saga

Last night I switched from the white other half to the poppy red other half.

This didn't fix the alarm problem and may be wholly unconnected to it but today the alarm didn't go off at 6:44, nor 7:44, in fact today it hasn't gone off at all:/

Well, as Android security really is the POC it looks like, it is fair and well it should not be rooted, at least on the real root level.
Simulation of a rooted Android running on sandbox, OTOH, would be OK IMHO
