Please help, I got a E: could notopen lock file/var/lib/dpkg/ lock- open 1.3 permission denied, E:Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?

I had the same problem and foud this http://www.google.com/support/forum/...2593199d&hl=en and it worked for me

you need to use "root" first
and try " apt-get install libeet1=1.2.2+svn41533-maemo1".
I can solve the problem using this method^^ hope it can help you

you are a god, thanks for getting this working for me. massivly extended the life of my n900, especially now i have an xperia play
