Incidently , came across this, in somebody's signature, thought it might make sense to post here

It's not good though is it, because often the noob will post a question without thinking and may not even come back to check the replies. We are left beating ourselves up with the same old posts.

Therefore I would like to make a suggestion: -
  1. One person replies to the post stating that the OP's post is not clear enough / does not provide examples / is inflammatory / is not helping.
  2. NO-ONE ELSE POSTS until the OP reposts in a more helpful manner.
  3. Helpful replies flood in. Karma flows and the world becomes a nicer place.

Hopefully this will reduce some of the FUD and misinformation floating around. Comments please!
Please don't get me wrong, I like it but how will that be put in to effect/enforced? Will the moderators now have to work even harder to flag these threads?

Self moderation. Moderators required only when all hell breaks loose

Well, I am almost completely somewhat certain that will work... perhaps. Plus Hell never breaks loose, right?

But on a more serious note, did you envision some sort of forum communication to let people know about this?

A world without troll-feeding and flame wars? What next...we all agree on healthcare reform and resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?

Just joking...always nice to see someone try to insert some decorum! Though I think the noob questions will continue as long as this site has limited search capabilities. (Compared to some other sites, it is much harder to find threads and scan through them, though this site is pretty with the University of Texas burnt orange colors and does look very maemo-ish.) Also, I don't expect linux noobies to have an easy time picking up on the linux stuff on this phone (command line, HTOP, packages, deb vs rbm, etc.) so I think we will continue to see questions on that stuff and we will have to patiently answer and attend to the faq's (the publishing of which are a great idea).

I should say "you" instead of "we" because I feel I learn more from this board than I answer other people's questions! So in the spirit of this thread's call for manners, let me thank all those from whom I have silently gleaned knowledge without pressing the "Thanks" link.

If this doesn't work, we can make a thread where all the offenders can be discussed, judged and shamed (yes, in that order)
