According to some insightful commenters the console is powerful enough to push:
-1080p at full-speed (60 frames per second) with slightly noticeable better graphical elements
-1080p at 30fps in 3D with slightly noticeable better graphics
-4K at 30fps with slightly noticeable better graphics
-May or may not be capable of doing 4K in 3D. Perhaps by limiting the frame-rate to 24fps and/or reducing the graphical intensity back to the PS3's respected level.
...What I feel about all of this??
SONY needs a new direction, and one straight out of Apple's playbook:
1) They charge $10,000 per yearly per developer. Apple charges $99. They should opt to a middle ground like a $399 yearly developer cost.
2) App/Game selection is tremendously strict in PS. Its a little bit more lenient on XBL. And a whole lot more lenient on iOS. And much much more lenient in Windows Store. SONY should aim at Apple's level so that Apps/Games really have to be "high quality" but allows variety and more explosive development.
3) Get rid of the "10 year strategy". Technology moves fast, keep up. A three year plan seems much more respectable. Hell, Apple updates its products annually and they get sold like pancakes. I would say do something every year like offer a new case shape, colour, LED design, exclusive title etc. Something fancy, not to fragment but only to spruce up the market you carve.
4) The launch is very important. A perfect launch like the initial iPad can "make" your product, and a failed launch like the Wii-U can "break" your product.
How to "make":
- Have the SDK in developers hands very early on
- Keep some secrets (you have with the console design, but you should've hidden the UX as well)
- Have plenty of units in storage ready
- Have the units manufactured rapidly
- Peek at your direct and indirect competition
- Start a massive marketing and advertising campaign
- Release 1.5 months before Xmas
- Price it right
- Make people "need" your device for Xmas
- Keep people happy by a good selection of games (even better if they are exclusives)
- Iron out all flaws (hardware, processor, software) before Mid-Dec
- Don't stop innovating

PS4 will output video in 4K, but not games
- Release 1.5 months before Xmas (Probably unless they have production problems)
- Price it right (between 450-600 for sure with those specs, so no price right)
Greetings.

I will vote AMD for president next time if I'm having any shares during next meeting.
