An anectodical experience: I had my phone freeze the three times recently and I thought, hey, I have Sailfishreboot (SR), let's use it! Trouble was, it froze so thoroughly that although I could move between screens and could start and close apps, I could not operate pulley menus and reboot using SR. Only the power button saved the day. So I thought, what's the point, and took SR off.

To clarify, this is not SR's fault. It's just that in the very rare situations when it might have been useful, the OS prevented me from using it.
Maybe I can add something like "tap 5 times on uptime to change to button mode" to handle situations like this better.

What do you think?

Now my top 5 apps
  1. Tweetian
  2. SMS
  3. Browser
  4. Squeeze Ui
  5. TAO Translator

Not counting Jolla's own applications, the top third party apps would be:
  1. Tidings
  2. File Browser
  3. YTPlayer
  4. Lighthouse
  5. Screenshot

From Jolla's stock applications:
  1. Browser
  2. Mail
  3. Chat (SMS/XMPP)
  4. Phone
  5. Camera

Android apps:
  1. A1 TV (my cable provider's TV guide, including their choice of on-demand movies)
  2. Tumblr
  3. Banking app
  4. xkcdViewer
  5. Shazam, leading to purchases with Amazon Music and 7Digital

I find it interesting that 3 of 5 native Sailfish apps in the 3rd party section are tools for the phone itself. Only Tidings and YTPlayer interact with the world outside Jolla. OTOH, the selection of heavily used Android apps is more useful ATM.

I am not too bothered. I can run Terminal to check uptime and press the power button to reboot, so I am quite happy with one less app. Plus it would not have solved my problem anyway. (See also this TJC bug report, I think that was it.)

I think that choosing 5 is unfair to the others - there are certainly more than 5 great apps and the selection is also biased towards the services I use. But let me try:

Jolla apps:
  • Clock - the best clock app I've seen - very underrated
  • Browser - even though now it is not very usable due to tabs killing, I can't express how much I appreciate that they went with Gecko instead of QtWebkit
  • Messages - I'd still prefer one window per conversation, but since drafts are saved, it is a pleasure to use
  • Phone - always there when you need it
  • Settings - shortcuts well done, eventview integration even better

3rd party:
  • Tweetian
  • Gpodder
  • XBMC/KODI remote - a must have
  • Quickddit - feature full Reddit client
  • Recorder

Promising/need work:
  • Friends
  • Poor maps/Modrana - Modrana was the #1 app on N900, but with its current feature set on SailfishOS, I can't find any use for it
  • CuteSpotify - too many crashes
  • Situations - once all the issues are solved, it is going to be a killer app
  • The Integral/Derivative/Limit set from rcolistete - needs R to perfection

So, I cheated and here you have 15 picks.
Or actually 15+1 - thanks, Warehouse!
