Hmm...with the fuzzy distinction concerning M$ and Nok ...
I'm wondering what the name of the Microsoft phone will be...

the MicroPhone? ...
hm...I think that innovate has been thought of...
although M$ may try to seize the patent right to use it.

the Micro Soft-Serve(ice cream ) ? ...
which seems solid enough....
but the buyer finds upon purchase that it numbs the head (brain freeze) ...
and has the predilection to melt away to a mucky mess a little too quick if not monitored.... ..

Shudder...oh yea...I can see that happening actually.

Shimano parts..not bad.
Make sure you buy from a place that'll accept returns...and have it prebuilt so you just take it home...much easier if you are buying this kind of bike from an actual store (liability for the bike is the store's if it failed to build it correctly. Otherwise they can argue...you or the individuals or company that put it together for you ...screwed up...and they are not obliged to reimburse...caveat emptor)
on the surface it looks good..except for soooo many gears...there is no way anyone...guy or girl needs that many gears...even with the hills out here in B.C. I don't need that many...18 gears is more than adequate.
Unless the person riding this bike is an Olympic or truly pro-circuit cyclist.,,and remember...this is a blunt instrument...with a big frame and lugged wide tires...a mountain bike...meant for trails and mountains...who wishes to utilize so many gears going down a trail? ridiculous ...or on pavement? ...ridiculouser
..or they wish to have thighs disproportionately similar to Popeye's forearms ...also ....they will most likely never go higher than 20 or 21 gears unless they are going straight down Kilimanjaro or Everest....and that would simply be painful.
Honest.
If you can find an 18 gear...that is enough...higher is simply needless complexity
18 gears and less..you will prob pay less...and...it'll actually get truly utilized and there will be less possibilty of equipment failure

Thanks for the info and observations! REI has them in stock in their stores and they are preassembled. They have follow up service which sounds good.

"All bicycles sold at REI include a free warranty tune-up. New bikes go through a normal break-in period, after which readjustment is important for longevity and performance. Bring your new bike in to your local REI for its free tune-up within 20 hours of use or 6 months from purchase, whichever comes first. Contact your nearest REI bike shop to schedule this important service."

I gotta admit I think you trumped it.
Mind with a name like that I'd never ever buy it.
Can you imagine explaining the name to your grandma?

I just couldn't do it.

http://www.themoscowtimes.com/mobile...et/507449.html

More and more countries demand servers to be incountry or regulate or totally have there own nets. China, Russia, us and France...just a few examples. where is the freedom? Or do we want regulated Internet country by country?

Maybe we need to split up tmo in different areas. I think greatness of forums like this will lose some of the value. Different cultures are part of the greatness even if the main thing here is Maemo.

Dave...
my good ...very astute...Dave..
Thank you...
thank you for bringing up a very serious and grave issue which should be discussed while there is time to do so in our current free...albeit under siege ....internet.
I have noted that the shutting of a communal www in which we enjoy the freedom to converse across the planet is most certainly in jeopardy of being closed and virtual borders to become the norm.
To use the antiquated...the alarum has been raised..for some time now....by some voices.
Sadly...it will also spell the withering of the greatest aspect of the web...the ability for free interaction and innovation to continue.
It does not bode well.
Also...It naturally is assumed that some if not many countries will shut access to their citizens to this forum/ site along with other sites if their security departments feel that there is contrary info/ or opinions that are being shared by individuals here that goes against their directives.
Intelligently...it would make sense that a system built FOR humanity should be under the safeguard of the U.N. ...it makes sense.
I do agree though with you about the sanity of advanced preparation and precaution. I do not think it diminishing to have "regional sub-stations"(at the very least dormant...until needed) (...is that adequate enough a term..."regional sub-stations"... for what you propose?)
I think this idea of yours to be proactively intelligent...so maemo members (in countries which constrain and shut access to the wider world) won't be shoved into an enforced solitary confinement by their governments.

quote "I think greatness of forums like this will lose some of the value. Different cultures are part of the greatness even if the main thing here is Maemo." quote
I do not believe that there will be any loss...especially setting up a fail-safe system to safeguard communications betwixt members....Sure we may not be able to stop a regime from shutting access to our main forum by it's people...but tiny micro-sites set up in access troubled areas of the globe...that would automatically kick in to action the moment access was shut...would at least provide those individuals INSIDE the country to communicate with each other. Not the optimal solution...but...localized communication in a trouble zone is better than solitary confinement and no access to talk with friends at all.
