I am not able to upgrade to latest twitter package..
Twitter is listed as a kepted-back-package (besides libgpg-error0, libogg0, lzop and usbutils) and if I try

Code:
apt-get install twitter
it asks to remove

Code:
mp-harmattan-001-pr

How to solve this?

hope i'm not the 1st to point one this nasty detail...
all the MeeGo ppl @ NOKIA have either been fired or left on their own accord before
and many now are working on Sailfish @ Jolla
where should that "hypothetical" PR 1.4 come from?
Jolla?

not doing enough w/ N9 to answer concretely, but based on N900 experience...
  • apt-get clean
  • apt-get check
  • apt-get autoremove
  • apt-get autoclean

You did apt-get autoremove? It will surely remove the meta package then! What you need to do is post the output of
Code:
apt-get install twitter --reinstall
The above will show what has been stopping it from being installed. Also if you have played around with /var/lib/dpkg/status then surely you have not made proper edits there...

There is no need to update the twitter package, as it doesn't contain *anything*.
It only helps to download all the other parts (libtwitter, twitter-qml, etc.) together.

And I would suggest against removing mp-harmattan-001-pr, or at the first occasion you will remove a package, there is a good possibility that you will see most of the packages disappear one by one...

Yea did autoremove.
By typing "apt-get install twitter --reinstall" it tries to remove mp-haramattan-pr-001 or the thousends of packages...

And no, i didn't play with .../dpkg/
