To reach kepler 22B...it will take us 587 years even if we traveling with the speed of light. I think the only way is a worm hole...

Nor finding a short cut...
I just wish someone would come up with a better name than "worm hole" ...It seemed cool and all for the last 20 plus years...but giving it some serious thought .....the picture of traveling through a literal "worm hole" ...not only sounds a wee bit tight and small...but also undignified...not that I'm putting down worms nor the incredibly vital job they do for all life here....

y'know what I can predict with absolute certainty is....
that the 1st person to make it through a worm hole ...dead or alive...will not only be famous for the accomplishment...but will also be remembered long long after in countless (and I'm sure really really really good) jokes, limericks and "knock-knock-who's-there" hilarity.... likely for 1000's of years....for that poor bloke's sake ...and his offspring....name it anything else..."Galactic Off Ramp" ..."Inter Stellar Bypass" ...something more dignified...

Worm holes are an exotic concept, about as real as time travel. I have and will always maintain that we need to change our paradigm completely and stop thinking about interstellar travel like we do about intercontinental. To fly to another star is a one way journey. Not just for any individual, but for the species. Once we send the colonists to Aldebaran, we must do that without any expectation of ever hearing back from them.

In a way, colonizing the galaxy would be like a flu epidemic. The viruses in your nose make you sneeze in the hope to get expelled and reach a new host. Some of them may indeed reach it but most of them will inevitably die. And none of them will ever come back. But despite the great losses, the strategy is beneficial to the species.

@endso, that wouldn't work. However you rename it, the worm has already been out of the hole (so to speak), so there will always be someone to remind the others that "interstellar space-time portal" or whatever was once known as "wormhole", And the jokes will live on.

Excotic, unreal, impossible. All These three criterias must be solved. If we Mange to solve the impossible Travel that far, why shouldent we be able to solve the puzzle of EVER Communicate With earth2?

Time Travel is not impossible. We just dont know how to do IT yet...

I remem watching a very intriguing doc on time travel.
In it...a little vignette was played showing a fellow in a industrial warehouse setting...meanwhile the narrator narrated his bit explaining.
The fellow in his lab coat opened up a "window" and could view the past...the narrator goes on to say creation of a machine to open a larger window or door is feasible...it then shows the age old question in a new vein...going back killing your grandparents ...hence never being born to go back and kill your gramps ....that wee little paradox isn't just a localized issue concerning that individ and his nearest and dearest...but a topic about the potential to damage the fabric of creation....
The "one-up" on the old adage that this doc tackled wasn't the subject going back far enough to kill the grandparents........
While the narrator talks on about the most efficient power consumption wise could open a "window" perhaps a few moments into the past...but it is really about the amount of "static" or "feedback" preventing approach to said "window"...
The subject of this doc puttering around ..having opened his "window" to a few moments before ...even hours into the past...opens this steel briefcase and begins pulling out and assembling the parts of a quite impressive sniping rifle with the purpose...the intent ...to kill himself a few moments in the past....
hehe...
Interestingly the doc is ultimately about the "feedback" the "static" the universe outputs to prevent tampering...
I'll have to hunt down the doc.

Maybe we should request patent for time travel first...both Google and Apple rose to higher ranking in approved patents 2014. But no one beats IBM...
