so what happened?
Nothing has changed.

Jolla apparently has enough funding to sustain that effort too - with an alliance of industry backers committing to buoy up Sailfish to the tune of €200 million. Back in February Jolla itself also took in a €1 million investment from a Hong Kong based telecoms & mining firm, China Fortune, in exchange for 6.25% of the company. Chinese e-commerce giants Alibaba and Baidu have also been floated as future potential partners for Jolla - albeit that might just be wishful thinking at this point.

Jolla co-founder Sami Pienimäki said the company's already spent about €20 million getting to the starting point of being able to release its first handset, running the Sailfish OS. How much more it may need to nurture and build out an ecosystem to really get Sailfish moving remains to be seen.

D.phone, but there's that article posted a while back which revealed that the supposed major deal they had there, + the entire Sailfish Alliance thing, was a complete furfy.*
Here's to hoping that they're now well on the way to building something similar to their original (inflated) claims.

*& is probably one of the biggest reasons they got rid of Jussi

No, they're just quoting the original stories, that info. is now wrong.
(or at least highly rocky, & far from the "done deal" they originally made it out to be)
Why the heck don't journalists check all their facts, jesus...

Aye, they did communicate that they are going for China though, which I'm glad for, as at some point I thought they had abandoned the market. They may approach it differently than before, but that's another story.

Reflecting on this, if they manage to stay afloat even without China or with very few (but increasing) sales, then I'll be happy. Part of me wants Jolla to be small/mid sized for a while, you know, to avoid them from having to appoint one of these C*O's that don't know the difference between what RAM and a hard drive is.

Now this is some interesting news:
Portugal to be the second country to sell Jolla

Source (Google Translate)

And here is the website of the seller, listing Jolla as one of the partners.

I am not sure what kind of company that is, but it is certainly good news!

EDIT:
The company's website is only two months old, so it looks like some kind of one time distributor just for Jolla. Unfortunately no big player - more like a one man show.
EDIT2:
Looking more into it, it seems somewhat official. The company also partners with Booxmedia, which is 20% owned by DNA.
