Since ive wandered out of the N900 Forum i thought id say Hi. Ive Been here about a week now. Ordered the N900 due to the (probably now famous) triple discount.

Id been looking to replace a Dell Axim, with the same functionality with something with web and phone access, In the last 7-ish years ive had a basic pay as you go mobile phone (spending about £30 - 40 total in that period)

So while i was in no hurry to replace it, i started looking around due to a BBC article on Smart phones. Was pretty impressed with the HTC hero, but eventually decided that the HW wasnt just quite up to it (for its price), mentioned this to a mate, who said he was thinking of the N900. Which id never heard of. Struggled to find good reviews for a while (at least compared to HTC hero which has been around longer) but the few i found intreaged me, but the more i found the more i was interested. Had more or less decided that i was interested, but planed on waiting till post christmas, partially in hope my mate would buy one, and i could get a proper look. But along came a bargain i just couldnt stop mytself.

SO im looking forward to the adventure of moving to from a mobile where i spend probably about a pound a month, do who knows what. im lookign at finding a contract(or pay as you go) that suits, and man its trick as i know im just gonna want loads of data, after all why have a machine that i hope is as good as it looks and not use it,

Oh and since no one answered my post (though its only been a day) on OVI maps. If anyone has one of the preview phones, please post some upto date info.

My usage of my Axim has been 70% ebooks (and im now pretty happy FBReader will suit me well) 20% sat nav use (of which only about 5% of the sat nav use is voice nav) 10% other, including PDF, EXCEL and DB use all of which im happy with the N900 options.

So the only doubt i have is about the Sat nav side. Idealy id like to Dump the Axim totally, and trust my self to one device.

Hello folks!
This is pie, Cherrypie.
I turned 17 in may & live in Germany with my family and my girlfriend.
Currently i'm doing an apprenticeship for IT-Specialist at SAP.
I was looking for quite a long time for a new phone, since my old one is a Nokia 7610, which isn't even listed on the official page from nokia anymore.
Anyway, from all the phones that were on the market, 3 months ago when I started looking for a new one, the iphone was definitly the smoothest, coolest looking and most powerful one. But when it comes to customizabilty, the iphone OS looses out. This, for me as a person who likes programming and wants to customize my devices in every possible way, was the main reason, why i'm not writing these letters in an apple forum now.
That was the point when suddenly the N97 turned out of nowhere, a new flagship with Touchscreen plus full qwerty keyboard? Sounds good, but the technology built in there isn't really new & the improvements to other touchscreen phones from nokia like the 5800 isn't that huge, considering that high price for the N97.
So I kept looking and looking & then, yet again, I found my way to maemo.nokia.com & was amazed! After numerous readings of previews, reviews of the prototype & watching alot of youtube vids about it, we all can say for sure, that the N900 kills the iphone in every single way.
If you kept on reading till now, I should say thank you, for your wasted time, huh?
Anyway, that's the story why I preordered my N900 and will have a deep look into programming for meamo 5.

Cya around.

Hi all!

I own a N800, and I've been reading the forums as a guest for a while. I finally decided to create an account.
