but maemo.org is ok i restarted it still the same i already re-flashed the device 2 times still the same problem, an sudgestions???
You've got DNS problems - are you connecting via WLAN or the phone network?

im conected via WLAN i can browse and everything but these catalogs always fail to refresh, how can i fix the the DNS it it on my homenetwork??

Others have had this same issue - the reports I've seen suggest that you need to change the DNS servers both in your wireless access point, and on the N900 (I would have thought just changing either one would work, but that's what others have reported). If you change to use the Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) then it should work.

i googled how to change the DNS now my router's DNS are now 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 i also set my n900, yes the catalogs(ovi,nokia applications and nokia system software update) are now refreshing but once i download from their site, it opens the aplication manager but just says "preparing for installation please wait", im hopeles :(

i disable meamo extra catlog still it is not working, the application log saying could not open lock file, unable to lock the list directory
please help me

Yeah i found out that my Network Cell Provider is what was holding this whole app manager problem back! >.< I got on my WLAN and all of a sudden it worked! so lame. However what can i do to have my cell network work with App manager?? Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks

you can change the dns ip in the /etc/resolv.conf file with one that works with the application manager (like this one of google http://code.google.com/intl/fr/speed/public-dns/)

I had the same problem with my old internet provider at home, and what i did is when i was at home i change the dns ip in the resolv.conf and when i was out i changed again because some services (like radio streaming) didnt work.
If i added the dns ip of my choice in the connexion parametres it did nt work.
