You need to unpack the bin.

./flasher.macosx -u -F RX-44_2008SE_1.2007.42-18_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
That will unpack the software, and may take a few seconds. Once that is done, plug the N800 into your computer using the included USB cable, reboot the Nokia device while holding the home button. Now, execute the following commands:
./flasher.macosx --enable-rd-mode
./flasher.macosx -k zImage -f
./flasher.macosx -n initfs.jffs2 -f
./flasher.macosx -r rootfs.jffs2 -f -R

?

help
i've entered RD mode but then:

root@rincewind:~# /home/momchil/flasher-3.0 -k zImage -f
flasher v0.8.7 (Oct 17 2006)

zImage: No such file or directory

the bin is unpacked in that directory

Yay discworld!

Try "ls -l" in that directory? You should have (at least) zImage, initfs.jffs2, and rootfs.jffs2 --- if not, post the output of "flasher-3.0 -u -F RX-44_2008SE_1.2007.42-18_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin" please.

I'm out of obvious ideas.

Try
strace ./flasher-3.0 -k zImage -f

Feel free to send it to me for evaluation: basically, look for all file open calls that target zImage.
