Solution: Dont use a Mac.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with running a Mac. I grew up on Linux and FreeBSD and MacOSX is hands down the best OS I have ever used.

1)Are you using the latest version? App doesn't need MyDocs to be mounted for it to work.
2)Probably it's a bug in hal. I get data from there.
could you run from console lpsmagic and tell me if there are any errors?
also could you paste output of "hal-get-property --udi /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/bme --key maemo.charger.type" when plugged to usb and after you have unplugged?

I'm at a good point with coding. Interface is very modular and extendable.
It will be possible to add functionality without recompiling
