Possibly a payment system using BT 4.0 instead of NFC ?

No you read the full blog post you'll get better context.
No SWP for N9, as it doesn't have the secure-element.
I've heard it's possible to add secure-element through SIM (if your carrier/bank supports it) or sticker.
But even then it depends on whether Nok. will support that.

I think they'll only support future phones with secure-element embedded.
But they don't seem to have even a vague plan to compete with Google Wallet yet.
They misguidedly seem to think the future with NFC is "elsewhere".
See the comments in particular in this article, there's a telling youtube vid. linked.

Maybe they're just not telling us...
But they really need to speak-up soon, if they do have competing scheme planned.

But how are they going from 2.1 to 4.0?
Drivers have it "crippled" at 2.1 levels but it's capable of more?
I assume so.

Interesting but IMO BT4 is totally unsuitable for that kind of application.
It has more security holes in it than swiss cheese....
Anyway this is all getting more into the realm of speculation (ala water-cooler thread)

BT4.0 lower energy

However its still not confirmed if N9 will have it. It seems like they removed and maybe replaced it with an old chip. But first specs actually said it was BT4.0

My guess is payment with NFC+ some kind of secframework will be different based on region etc... for example I dont think google wallet will come too northeuropean for long.

In sweden it seems we will have it via simcard.
