I love to rename it when i am on an airplane to the plane type (like e.g. "Airbus A320") and leave bluetooth on. I got the idea from a comic strip in a computer magazine.

Do you get lots of attempts to connect?

I did a wifi and bt search on the plane the other day. Lots of devices came up in both searches (ad-hoc wifi network APs in the wifi search).

I wonder what would happen if you set up a wifi AP of some sort and then just made it serve up some kind of "you shouldn't be using wifi on an airplane" message (or goatse if you were evil)... Or, more fun, set up a BBS or chat room. I bet there'd be lots of hits...

errr qole, you do realise the trouble you will be in next time you go anywhere.

The TSA people have a special pair of rubber gloves with your name on them for enabling wifi on a plane :P

You're not allowed to use electronic devices during take off and landing. Inbetween it is allowed, as far as it actually works...

They're going to need lots of gloves for all the people who had WiFi ad-hoc and BT broadcasting on my flight.
