"It is hard to predict exactly when the first update will come, but the wait is expected to be measured in weeks."

Who said "imminent" ? A month is just four weeks :-)

How big are the files you're trying to play? I've found that the 400mb type of DiVX and other files just will not play for me... after going through the other media converters and pulling the video size slightly down from the native 800x480 of the screen to something smaller - read this article... it saved me a few headaches.

also, ask the members here. the collection of knowledge here is incredible... and I'm still just a n00b learning.

hope that helps you a bit. and good luck.

The converter works extremely well for me, so long as I stick with the 2006 OS. Great success converting various rips of my favorite shows.

However, when I tried 2007HE, the audio and video won't stay synced, and videos quickly become unwatchable. These are the same videos that worked flawlessly with the latest OS 2006. I've tinkered with all sorts of the settings in media converter, but can't find any settings that work with 2007HE.

All my vids have been <7mb and it also happens when trying to watch video feeds, i.e. from BBC news website - works ok on OS2006 - Upgrade to 2007HE and - nothing! Tried canola, mplayer etc. most of my vids work with N770, but not when I upgrade to OS2007. Much prefer the 2007 interface, but seems to be a little buggy! Can't complain as whoever develops it is doing a FAB job!! The only issue I had reall was the video playack.
p.s. thanks for the link to the article - some great info here!

Am I correct in stating OS2007 has Flash9 support, thus YouTube videos will work on the 2007HE as well?

OS 2007 on N800 has Flash 9.

Unless Nokia have negotiated a new licence with Adobe, OS 2007 HE on 770 will almost certainly not have Flash 9 and will continue to use Flash 6.

Even if Flash 9 came to the 770, youtube would suck due to the lack of horsepower.

I've been doing a little more digging and found that even the Flash9-capable OS2007 of the N800 can't play YouTube videos at a reasonable framerate... So much for Flash9

On my N770 with OS2007HE, Youtube videos do load, whereas in OS2006 they report straight away I dont have the right version, however it gets choppy sound and maybe the odd frame of picture, it then makes the N770 crawl to a halt and normally crashes the browser.... not quite there yet!

Hmm, I fail to see any advantage to using 2007HE over the official latest 2006 release. Quite on the contrary: 2006 actually seems better (less problems). I mean, what do you really GAIN by going to 2007HE on a Nokia 770?
