If you do "lspci" can you see your device listed?
Hope it makes sense to you because it's troublesome even just to handle this without net/wifi

My wifi here is coming through cabel/modem (with TV, phone etc)

It seems that people have had trouble autodetecting the driver for Broadcom 4365 WIFI chipset.
There are solutions, however. Google for "Ubuntu Broadcom 4365 problem" or something.

what the point of installing drivers in Live mode?
use virtualbox or vmware then and install ubuntu there. lt connections will come from windows, but you could mount ext drives in virtual ubuntu.

OK thanks "what the point of installing drivers in Live mode?"
Yeah but my plan was to install Ubuntu fully at my PC /learn it and use it in future also, but now I will try to find out about virtualbox etc! and if it can avoid the Wifi problem by using Windows.
But already now we could have talked in Ubuntu only if I had been able to find the Wifi there

Thanks It's already set-up in ubuntu for activation and have tried a couple of times but comes up with an error and message "see in /var/log/jockey.log". Now I will try again but how? I had already found a suggestion here but apt-get etc can't work without Net, so...'around and around'?!
