Shouldn't matter - signal from N900 TV-out never exceed PAL, so it's rather matter of "does it convert properly to PAL and send signal at all". BTW, PAL get little higher number of lines (let's critically oversimplify it to "resolution"), so on already crappy low-res TV-out, it's best to use PAL when possible. Also, remember about TV-out control status menu widget, which allow You to scale output, change aspect ratio etc.

Does anyone get a small bit of stuttering when initially playing large videos ?

This seems to happen when playing large converted mpeg4 clips.

Anyone have any suggestions for conversions ?

After a bit of playing ..MP4 video seems to stabilize a little.
HOWEVER I'd like to get this running as smoothly as possible seeing this is all in the A/V area. :-/

EDIT:

I should also note my DSP is overclocked.

No that was the video res i was using, this is why i along time ago asked if there where any way of having TRUE clone view, when watching video on the N900 with TV connected then that output gets a separate "port" to display video, when not viewing video then the N900 just clones image to TV.

IF we could get that video function disabled then we could play the newly recorded video (576p+) also i would LOVE to have that function because then i could use my BT mouse, when i use my mouse i can see it on the TV (pointer) only when not watching video but everything else, it would be nice to have some remote controls instead of operating the N900 directly when watching clips/movies on TV's.

@up
Sorry for thread hijack, but should be perfectly achievable with Raspberry Pi solution from here:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...87#post1148087

You just export one display, run video on it, and work on N900 using it's native display.

Somehow, I think that community haven't yet acknowledged and/or understood how f****n awesome possibilities for N900 arrive with project for using Raspberry Pi in tandem - IMO it's at least as important as USB hostmode used to be. One guy even proposed to use Raspberry Pi RAM as faster swap (over remaining 20-25 MB of USB bandwidth, after exporting display) for our N900.

Generally, with USB networking and X commands, nothing seem impossible.

There is a working port of Google's gst-dsp for Maemo ?

I have read that it claims 4x more performance with gstreamer than libdspbridge

He is Felipe C. (felipec in this forum)

Google's gst-dsp and actual dsp plugin for Maemo's gstreamer are the same ?

Maemo version is updated?
There is omapfb ?

My version of dsp plugin isn't working, but probably is because I have installed power kernel v49

Thanks, good finding. Now, make another try and guess what libgstdsp.so stands for

EDIT:
Take no offense, just kidding

gst-dsp is backported from harmattan, gst-dsp in google code does not support HD codecs
I am in a process of improving gstomapfb (xoverlay support is added and working, needs a little cleanup and some other goodies) stay tuned

Already known is the GStreamer PlugIn Library for DSP

But is it direct access or libbridge access ?

For recording process your updated version can works with stock dsp lib or need N9 libs?
No HD recording simple 800x480

And where is omapfb ?
Is it in your updated lib ?

Direct access. Stock codecs are not supported, only harmattan DSP binaries.

omapfb is yet to be released.
