So the actual disc must be physically inserted?
Can I burn the image on a CD-RW which I'll be able to erase for further proposes?

On linux, wargus use cdparanoia for ripping audio cd. On windows wargus use cdda2wav for ripping. Both programs use special ioctls on cdrom device which does not work on loop device.

If you have image of original WAR2 cd (with audio tracks) and you can burn cd image with audio tracks too (so any cd player can play your burned audio cd) - yes. Then cdparanoia/cdda2wav can rip audio tracks and convert it to wargus format.

Or better yet I think converting it with bin/cue format would do?

It depends on your skills with converting and burning... Wargus needs original WAR2 DOS CD (which has standard CDDA audio tracks - playable on CD players). You can do what you want (and you programs which you want).

You need to create original CD if you do not have it yet

Still no luck. With a CD inserted into drive E: it fails like before. Music is played just fine in Winamp and either my old Hi-Fi stereo machine.

I have a problem...

Copied CD contents to MyDocs/War2

Did a manual run of /usr/games/warextract and after a while it crashed on me. Terminal output as follows:

Code:
Warning: cdparanioa is not installed in system
cdparanoia is needed for extract music
Detected UK/Australian original DOS CD
Please be patient, the data may take a couple of minutes to extract...
Wrong type 00000fa0, expected 000007d0
Can anyone help me or tell me what's the problem here?

Thanks in advance...

It's great to see that you are still working on it. Any news about Stargus?

Stargus will be updated ASAP when will work on 64bit systems too :-) But for Stargus there are no new features - only fixed bugs in extractor...
