So I got me some of these thingys :http://www.biltema.no/no/Bygg/Elektr...yter-utendors/.
Yeah I know it's on Norwegian, but here is the google.translate of the discription :

"This remote switch allows you to comfortably turn appliances on and off by controlling the power supply with a remote control and a receiver that plugs in between the appliance and the wall outlet. Range: Up to 30 m in open areas. With self-closing lid. 4 selectable channels. IP44. Max. load 16 A, 3600 W. Frequency: 433.05 to 434.79 MHz. Battery: 12 V 27 A. CE certified. 230 V"

Now to my question, would it be possible to use the N900 as an remote for this? (imagine waking up, just hitting the "ON" button on your N900, and by the time you are done at the bathroom your coffee is ready!)
Yes, I could take the remote with me to bed.. But wheres the fun in that !

Kind regards,
Futtawuh

The frequency of that thing is most surely out of the N900's range. The FM-transmitter ranges from about 88-108Mhz, quite far off the 430s.

But sure, such thing can be done with the N900, but then I'd use a computer. Have the computer to control the power outlet and control the computer with the N900.

I looked into this a little while ago as I bought a pack of three remote control sockets, and a remote dirt cheap at the local supermarket.

Came across this which may help although it's beyond my skills

Some of the other units like bye bye standby and the byron range have the ability to be controlled by home automation software.

But i'll test it this weekend. Again, thanks.

Kind regards,

Just been having a look about on ebay which sometimes has quirky stuuf, and found this which looks interesting, and small enough to sit on a keyring, or N900 lanyard!!

Pity it's twice the cost of the 3 sockets and remote I bought!

Just found this, which is USB, and has linux software available, so could potentially plugin to an N900 - Not cheap though. Best I have found in the UK is £50.

Looks very interesting though, wonder how I can sneak one without letting the wife see.
