Hello

I'm preparing a cradle mod, with full USB connectivity - the basic idea is to both charge and connect the phone without taking a toll on the precious microusb.

It will use the PCB pads as listed on http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=997818&postcount=9 and exposing them behind holes in the case

Then I was thinking about using needles and springs (like most DECT phones cradles) with a custom cradle made of lego like this one:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ght=usb+cradle

Has anyone done something similar?
Couldn't find anything in the forum. I'd be interested by the experience of those who have a broken usb port and use the PCB pins instead on a daily basis.

From what I've read it works the same, but I'd be interested in weird things that they have experienced, to see if I should change anything in my plans (a bit weak on the electronic side - no active components are planned in my cradle :-)

EDIT- found http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=20 so I guess I'll use the micro USB solder points instead

EDIT - changed title

Well, if you get this built, would you consider building me one? Obviously, I would pay (well) for it.

Hello

I am still working on it - it's too early to promise anything :-)

But it will be made of legos so that anyone can easily make one. If you really can't do legos you can have one of the prototypes when it will be ready (I like to build several versions before chosing a design)

The cradle is still on the design phase ; I am considering the inductive charging options since it could apparently be done with few active components if hooked straight to the battery blades (something I had not considered !)

At this moment I want to purchase several induction kits for my tests to make at least 3 working units with different designs, but amazon is not delivering to my country and ebay sellers are charging an arm and a leg : considering I'm thinking about 5 kits that'd be between $400 - far too much for a weekend project, while the same amount of kits would cost less than $100 on amazon.

So I'm looking for someone in the US who could possibly forward them to me if I give their address to amazon.

Any volunteer please PM.

Thanks for the update, I am not interested in charging as using external battery charger. Just want to (have to) reflash. Not confident enough now to try usb repair.
