I feel safe buying SD cards and many other computer items from Tigerdirect and Newegg. The prices are competitive and they have a long history of being in business.
Why trash Ebay? I've had many successful transactions over there. That said, you should only deal with sellers with high scores (100 or close) and buy stuff that can be returned.

bought many memory cards on ebay and about 75% have been fake. bought from uk, japan,usa even germany and been successful in about about 90% of cases getting refunded!
