It should not be that high when just charging.
I leave mine on charge for over 12 hours (24hrs last week - had no reception and forgot about it) and it never heats up, even on a hit 40+ degress (Celsius) day.

Check running applications.
Open xTerm
Code:

See whats running, or use conky.
Uninstall pointless unused programs - Give it a good reboot (into power46) and see how it goes.

does this guy realize it's the temperature of the battery?
and if he's from Pakistan, maybe it's 43 degrees outside his phone too...

I got 54°C for over 15 minutes while watching youporn.com over 3.5G while charging @1,15GHz

Mine got to 54 today,,,I started blowing on it to cool it down..it worked too

My "record" is 60 degrees of Celsius. Charging, Joikuspot (Wifi + 3G) and overclocked to max CPU 1GHz. Solution; ice brick under phone and temperature stays below 40

Anything under 50c is nothing to worry about. One time I left my screen locked on overnight by accident, in the morning it was pretty hot...

Ya.... I found mine recently at 54 C. Why to worry?

You could always stick a cooler on the back like this if you are worried about temperature!
