I'm considering whether to get the n9 outright (sim-free) or with a carrier on contract.

Does anybody know to what degree carriers will be able to “customize” the n9? As I understand it, no carrier ever messed up an n900’s firmware, or even locked the device to a network. Is this also the case with the n9?
