Hi,
Can someone help me? My N900 is continuously rebooting after I updated to PR1.2 via the application manager.
It comes to the stage what looks like pincode entering, but it's grey and with strange figures intead of letters/numbers. Then reboots again.

Maybe you can throw some light on why the advice on the download page is to only flash fw BEFORE vanilla?, yes i know you can do it your way but loads of people saying no not possible lol.
Nokia screwed up this for sure ha.

What you said and what his instructions were seem like they're the same thing.

Me too! Exactly same symptoms, including the SIM pin prompt with messed up font (all digits appear as little squares). If I leave it, it reboots whether I put the pin in or not, but I have had it show an empty home screen (b/g but not even a status bar yet) when I've tried entering the pin quickly after the prompt comes up.

Will try flashing - not done it before, ota upgrades 'just worked' for both the previous upgrades.
Now wondering if can do that from a Linux desktop (or one without a working X server - my lucid lynx upgrade broke it; really not my week is it ). Will look...

Did do some root->/opt clearing though 1st, wouldn't install on the 30Mb I had left. It worked at 42Mb, I don't know how much

Hello,

downloaded the last update from Nokia (116.3 m for maemo) and my N900 cannot start (black screen - blue nokia logo - black screen again and again).

i understood the reflashing the device will solve the probelm.
in the documentation i saw the following command:
flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_2.2009.51-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f –R

but in some posts i saw i need to do in with other .bin file
such as:
flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f –R

my question is what is the difference?
what can go wrong if i give the wrong .bin file?
what .bin file i need to specify to solve the continuous rebooting problem?
do i missed other steps for solving it?

thank you!

the PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM is the firmware and VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM is the 32GB memory.

ok. thanks!

so what do i need to update to solve the problem?
my guess is that i need only to "touch" the PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.

i was looking for .bin file to use in the cmd with the flasher i found those using my code behind the battery at "tablets-dev.nokia.com restricted downloads".
so now i need to understand which .bin file to use.

do i need to use this one:
RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.42-11_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
OS 2009 version 1.2009.42-11 , Maemo 5 Global release for Nokia N900.

i don't need to use the "eMMC content 1.2009.41-1" where it specify also:
"Vanilla version of the eMMC content for Nokia N900
NOTE: Always flash the FIASCO image first, then the eMMC image immediately after that. Never boot up the device between flashing the FIASCO image and the eMMC image!"

thanks again.
i think we're getting a closer. this thread will be beneficial of others in the future i'm sure. i have also learned things about the internals and usage of my N900 so something good came out of this disaster... but still need to see my N900 will get back to full functioning (didn't do the flasher command yet).

just to make sure - if i will flash the 32GB memory all the data will be erased, right?
