I've had no issues with wi-fi on Easy Mer. I've even connected DUN to my EVDO phone. I have not tested extensively with it everywhere I go becasue Mer has such limited use for me now.

Problem ? with OOo in easy-mer.

[ N810 , OS 43-7 , easy-mer from extras plus a partition with untarred easy-mer-015-1.tgz . ]

I installed openoffice.org-writer following your instructions below.

It runs from the terminal ( "oowriter" ),
and can acccess the ext. mmc, THANKS qole!

But it does not run from the icon in the mer Extras menu:
An error window, "/%F does not exist." , appears twice on top of each other.

I would say easy debian is the way to go. Easy mer still points to the future IF it really happens.

maybe it would be nice to see what in mer can be merged to debian or easydeb ?

I don't think it's correct to say Mer is in a coma state. Mer was shot and strangled while it lay in its hospital bed. I imagine there are files you could look at, but further operations on mer would have to be conducted in the graveyard, with the coromer present.

Why did it have to based on Ubuntu. Ubuntu is bloated! Please make Meamo 5 to run on the n810/n800. Please! I will help!
