Whislte works....although it doesn't have a speaker phone if you are using iPone or iTouch with google voice...I'm looking for an app with speaker phone or I'll have to break down and get a combo earphone/mic set up to replace my $2 plug in mic...Any ideas on other apps welcome, but Whislte is a good option I found heard about from Bryce on TIP at: http://www.todaysiphone.com/2010/12/...#comment-10053

and there is no commercial for incoming calls so it works fine with google voice just like gizmo, and you get a free number...haven't seen if they are still giving out free numbers, but could/should get swampted with gizmo out now....
Also wonder why Gizmo ended...something going on with Google, any thoughts or info?

What we really need is the google talk client on the n900 to support google voice calls like it does in pidgin and asterisk, but I have no idea how to do that.

@uvatbc I used this: http://supermario-world.blogspot.com...gle-voice.html for asterisk on my ddwrt router. It is only compiled for some types of routers though.

If you notice excessive audio latency it's likely because the voice packets being routed through the VSP's server. This is not the most direct route from the remote party to your SIP phone.

Ideally your SIP client will send your public IP address and public port numbers for SIP and voice packets. Unfortunately, if your SIP client does not know it's public IP address it sends your LAN IP address in the SIP headers. The VSP, seeing the LAN address in the SIP header, assumes you are behind symmetric NAT and responds by routing voice packets through their server as this is the only way that works when there is a symmetric NAT router on your end.

Note that a working STUN server is necessary if you want your public IP address in the SIP headers. STUN may not work if you did not set up a STUN server correctly, or you are behind a symmetric NAT router.

When choosing a new voice service provider (VSP) to replace Gizmo5 it's a good idea to choose a VSP that accepts SIP calls from outside their own network. The SipBroker provider white pages search (HERE) shows a green check mark next to the names of such VSPs. Avoid those with a red X next to their name.

Due to the announced Gizmo5 shutdown I am looking for other options. My Google Voice account shows Google Chat as one of the phones to which I can forward incoming calls. Is there any way to receive Google Chat voice calls on my Nokia N800?

There is not. I believe that pidgin supports it, and you can setup asterisk to support it. Someone should be able to use the code from pidgin to make the n900 gtalk client support it too.

Pidgin is available for the N800. I can't give it a proper test just now because there's something wrong with my Google Chat account. I can't receive any calls on the Windows XP Google Chat client either.

Anyone have the sip settings for whistlephone?

<phonenumber>@whistlephone.com

logs in, but no calls are coming in.

I tried settings from this post, no luck either
