Alright guys doesn't seem worth it. I flashed both eMMC and rootfs and there was a speed/response jump at first but once all the apps/settings/contact etc were restored it returned to normal for response and battery life. Not sure if it has had an affect on anything else but nothing i have noticed. On another thread (sorry can't find a link at the moment) it was mentioned that it was basically just updated copyright and user documents as well as a new video for the N900 so nothing that you can't just copy over anyway.

p.s. if you do reflash the eMMC remember to copy the "cities" folder to your memory card then after just copy it back and you won't have to download all the maps again
