My beloved N900 died.

I woke up one morning and the screen wouldn't turn on, but I was still able to SSH into it. A couple days later and it no longer responded to pings.

Now when I plug it in, the orange light blinks for a second, then (if the battery is in) will pulse as if it's charging until, eventually, it become a solid orange.

I can "turn it on" by holding the power button and watching the white light fade on, but there is no vibration. After waiting a minute, I can hold the power button again and watch the white light fade out.

Any ideas? Is it time to bury it?

Could be almost everything (battery, SW, HW).
Do you have possibility to charge battery outside of device? Or use another one? As I suspect from your LED behaviour.

But is does not explain screen behaviour which just may have been a one-time glitch. Nevertheless go for that batt test first.
