A little something new from me. I tested the H and HB pencil and played around with the more/less opaque. Really amazing how real it feels to draw on this phone

'picture removed by me'

e: I've taken off my drawing again. The reason for that is, my wife and me are in the middle of writing a childrens book and i'm developing/drawing the characters and she's writing it. The picture i've removed is the mother. First we decided not to use this character, hence i posted it, but after a talk we agreed on this one and that particular style. We decided that it would be best if nothing from the book/doodles/sketches where on the net or elsewhere before or after a publish of the book, only through the right channels. Very sorry to remove it, but have to

Will make a new doodle to post

@sierrafoxtrot ... lol, my brother does the drawing complete strangers thing as well ... in busses, on trains, in pubs etc ... I'm rather surprised he's never been slapped, but usually if someone clocks him they're just so bowled over by the standard of his drawing that all they want to do is look through his endless notepads to see pics of themselves and their friends!

... tis fantastic for a furtive tube drawing ... I need more practice at drawing portraits from life ... life drawing I can do fine, but when it comes to people's faces I seem to get stuck ... aaah well!

@dousan ... loving those eyes! .. the pencil brushes work so beautifully!

I think just because of this thread Nokia will release a meego device with big screen using a new technology of resistive touchscreens in H1 2011. Lankku?

Hip hei!
Nice new pictures..

EmmaGx, I like colors very much and quite funny "birds", bright image

sierrafoxtrot, very nice sketch.

Dousan, quite impressive shading.. I like.. btw. did you used
pen pressure to vary your opacity? or just "static" control?

zehjotkah, I hope that this is true and Nokia will listen and notice us..
because I think that there is some demand to portable sketching devices with proper pressure sensitivity and with precise STYLUS and NOT FINGERS.

... I do like the idea of an iPad sized pressure sensitive drawing pad ... but would they be able to cope with me resting my hand on it to reach different areas of the screen? ... a stylus (or knitting needle!) definitely work better than fingers!

... is anyone else finding the colour settings on their n900 are a whole lot brighter than laptop monitors?

@creativetone; i tend to pretty-fy people when i draw them, guess it's drawing too much comic-style stuff when i was younger. i have real problems when it comes to actually trying to draw *accurately* lol

@Dousan; which pressure settings did you use? my H and HBs never get that dark, i can only imagine how hard you must've been pressing lol

@EmmaGx; the tube's too jerky for proper drawing, i just get a quick sketch of features and try and fill it in from memory later ... and luckily no one's caught me out trying to draw them yet

I think that N900 size is just enough for me.. just because it is small.
I know that many of you think that bigger is better..

Only thing that I hope that Nokia or any other manufacturer takes this
mobile digital sketching concept seriously and improves it..
hardware wise.. not necessary in software if we are talking about MyPaint.. because of..

I do not want that some "big money" company comes and
takes and destroys this amazing painting program.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Knitting needle.. ooh.. I must test that .. right away. I think that
most things I have already tested. Yes.. I use screen protector, do you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, colours are little brighter and different than my calibrated monitors..
Cintiq and WideGamut HP LP2475w.
But just a little..
... and it depends a lot of screen brightness, of course.

Hmm.. maybe I should calibrate my phones colours eh...

Let's doodle!

@Tone, mostly pen pressure, but did tweak the opaque up and down a bit, but that was only in the face shading

@Sierafoxtrot i think you're some what right about the pressure i'm not sure? Sometimes it's allso a matter of coloring more than once at the same place or tweak the opaque

Ohh and did allso use the ereaser at some points

Haha knitting needle, will allso give that a try when i get the time to put on my zagg shield

@sierrafoxtrot ... imagine they're even less likely to catch you now you're doodling on a phone instead of paper! ... I think I'd be too self conscious to draw random strangers!

@creativetone ... yup I'm using a vit...can'tremembertherestoftheletters screen protecter ... seems to work really well ... and a 7mm plastic knitting needle ... the weight of the other end balances it well making light pressure easier ...

@dousan ... yeah, probably better not to try random stuff as a stylus without a sheild!
