As of latest Jolla blog and Sailfish build & flash:
Bluetooth does not work (we have a solution and are busy integrating it)
Great!

There is still a number of small issues - for example, tethering only works using command-line. Most of them will be addressed in the next update.

so i only now realized that what i thought was the F5121 in front of me is in fact the F8131 (xperia x performance). is there any use of it at this time? it's just going to gather dust otherwise, since it was bought second hand for the sole purpose of trying out sailfish on it.

Not that I can take the slightest credit, but output may be useful to save anyone going through video frame by frame.

What are you talking about, there is a linux version, and even for the *spits* Mac OS. Better yet, the linux version doesn't need any special drivers, other than the ones from the android sdk tools. so no need to go into safe mode or some rubbish to install uncertified fastboot drivers.

EDIT: unless you're talking about Sony's official flashtool called Emma. But that doesn't even support the Xperia X. The other flashtool that was around before Sony's tool is the one I was talking about.

You can’t downgrade with Sony’s companion tool.

You need xperifirm (Windoze) to DL files from Sony (FW).
Then use flashtool (Linux/win) to create the needed FTF files (from downloaded Sony FW files) to flash (using flashtool).

Since Xperifirm is Windoze only, you either need a Windoze avail, a VM, or DL files from elsewhere, probably less trusted places. Or, a helpful friend

XperiFirm is not Windows-only. It is, however, developed using .NET, so you need to have mono installed to run it.

For Arch Linux, there's a xperia-flashtool package on AUR, which includes both the Flashtool and XperiFirm.
