I've had my n800 for about 5 days now, and I've found references that indicate the screen thing is normal (dark on the right side). However there is one other item I'm wondering if anyone has seen. When I pop out the camera it works fine, but when I point it the other direction the image won't flip unless I hold the camera against what I assume is a limit switch. If I take pressure off it, the image flips back.

This really isn't a big deal for me, as I really don't expect to be doing much video stuff, and especially not much where I need the view behind the device, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

I have the same issue.
[noticed it very late & cannot return my N800 as it was unavailable on Maui, a friend
brought it back for me from CompUSA Vegas]

Here is how I dealt with it:
1) Installed Gconf-Editor
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/gconf-editor

2) Once installed, go to:
system - osso - af

& toggle the 'camera-has-turned' checkbox as desired

PS: issue also discussed here
