Forcing portrait mode is a bad idea as your desktop doesn't work properly then. I have had mine glitch into portrait mode accidentally before, it made it impossible to use for me so I rebooted to get it back to normal.

The hacking notification lights post is pretty much taken straight from the various led notification threads on here. And yes, it works.
