Believe me, I don't know linux either... learning by doing and a lot of time in forums

Have you read this post:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...844#post482844

It's the easiest way imho to get access to the N900 filesystem with a PC.

This shortcut can only lock you device, because the screen is off in the locked state

i should also note that if you have the n900 in an armband, while running etc, this is by far the best method to lock the screen, since all the controls are basically covered up.

btw that icon file doesnt exist on n900. but lockdaemon's padlock icon is gorgeous, just use Icon=lock after installing lockdaemon.

here is a way to create a shortcut on your desktop to lock the screen (or in the menu)

go to app manager and install scm (shortcut maker)(thanks to tiboric)

its name is scm yes "scm" only don't confused

now open shortcut maker(you have just installed)

tap to CMD and give a name to your shortcut
(don't check box "run in xterm")
and put this in command box (better to copy the code and paste it)

Code:
/usr/bin/dbus-send --print-reply --system --dest=com.nokia.mce /com/nokia/mce/request com.nokia.mce.request.req_tklock_mode_change string:locked
and prees create...

now there should be a new icon in the menu to lock Ur screen

now go to desktop > settings > add your shortcut DONE........ !

Sorry, but on my phone only Lock Screen is working. Other two icons do nothing. Can anybody know the reason for that?
