I have a key for Sygic maps for North America on Maemo that I paid a good deal for, but all the downloads online are long dead. Anyone know if I can find the software somewhere still?

/me mumbles about closed source software

You might want to try contacting Sygic directly.

Also, I'd give Modrana a good look. Modrana is an excellent open source navigation program with support for offline routing, tile downloading, multiple maps, map layering, voice navigation, etc.

Great software! Plus, the maps will be up to date.

Luckily Sygic is not yet dead. But I have the impression they are a little bit understaffed both in terms of development and support capabilities.
Early 2014 I have written them asking if by any chance they would do it one more time with Sailfish.
I will send you a PM with the email address of the person that replied.
I'd tell them that there are only 2 OS I want to use Sygic on: Maemo/Harmattan and Sailfish.
Community is waiting! (well not exactly, thankfully there is Modrana - also from CZ)

If Sygic will not help there are live torrents, the problem is that you have to share to download so even though paid up your are illegally sharing a file which also happens to be from unknown untrusted sources.

I sent the sygic folks an email. Hopefully they have an archive somewhere. The FOSS alternatives (modrana, navit) either don't work or look/function much much worse than sygic does.

@Jef91,

In OVI you can still find:
MobileMaps10-8.1.2.deb
MobileMaps9-7.71.0.deb

plus various maps from 2009.

Don't know how useful that is, or if it works at all.

Forgive my ignorance - how do I install packages from Ovi? Been awhile since I've used my N900. I'm not seeing those in the "store" website from the launcher or in the package manager.

Located the mobile-maps package via a command I found in another thread:

Code:
grep "Package: mobile" /var/lib/apt/lists/downloads.maemo.nokia.com*_ovi_._Packages
Package: mobile-maps-nordics
Package: mobile-maps-benelux
Package: mobile-maps-france
Package: mobile-maps-uk
Package: mobile-maps-italy
Package: mobile-maps-iberia
Package: mobilewebserverdemo
Package: mobile-maps-dach
Package: mobile-maps-benelux
Package: mobilewebserverdemo
Package: mobile-maps
Package: mobile-maps-easteur
Package: mobile-maps-nordics
Package: mobile-maps-dach
Package: mobile-maps-france
Package: mobile-maps
Package: mobile-maps-easteur
Package: mobile-maps-uk
Package: mobile-maps-iberia
Package: mobilewebserver
Package: mobile-maps-italy
Anyone know which (if any) of these is the NA maps package?

Quick reply...
Maybe, try 'aptitude install mobile-maps' ? 'apt-get' generally does not work with Ovi repository (artificially crippled), while 'aptitude' does work (I used it, long ago, to install Panorama).
Best wishes.
