Now that we have Flash for Fennec, I was hoping we could get a port from N900 to the N9 for TweakFlashVer, since most of the sites I have tried on Firefox required Ver.10.2 or higher...On my N900, I am able to access any site with Flash just by changing the "version" of Flash via TweakFlashVer...I know that there is a patch to switch to 10.2 on the Flash in Ovi Store thread, but some people are crippling their devices with that patch, so it is not tried and true yet.

It would be very helpful to our community to have this as we do for the N900. Let me know what you think, hopefully we can get the devs on board.

Would it be possible to just find the version info in the flash binary and change it in a hex editor?

I'll try to do it using the source for the N900, btw the file it's located in
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so If I can edit it I'll post here how

Yeah, it worked. What should I test (that is, why do you want to do this?)

Many were having issues with streaming sites, like vimeo, crunchyroll.com, hbogo, and live streaming YouTube and other sites, many of these are still on lower versions of flash but have higher certs...if we can get a port of Tweakflashver ported over to the n9/950, Flash could be much more useful to the community.

So how did you do it?

playing videos on Facebook is a common thing that you can't do on the stock flashplayer on the N900, but that does work with the hex edited version number increase.

The N9's Flash plugin also can't play facebbok videos, so I'd love to see if your hex edit allows that to work now.

I opened libflashplayer.so in a hex editor and replaced all instances of the version info with false numbers. Vimeo and Hulu still don't work though.

I posted about Vimeo in the other thread. Basically, Vimeo tries to detect if you're using a mobile device by your screen resolution, and wont load the flash player if that's the case. I don't know if Hulu does anything similar.

I posted a sort of "solution" for Vimeo here

Could we package this up in different versions?
